Aims and Scope
The Journal of Structural Geology and Applied Tectonics is dedicated to the publication of original research articles that advance knowledge in the fields of structural geology, tectonics, and their interactions with other branches of earth sciences. The journal publishes research that is based on reliable data, demonstrates scientific innovation, provides in-depth analysis, and has clear tectonic implications at local, regional, or global scales.
The journal's scope encompasses, but is not limited to, the following topics:
* Analysis of geological structures and crustal deformation processes in various tectonic environments.
* Regional tectonics, evolution of orogenic belts, shear zones, and fault systems.
* Structural sedimentology, tectonics of sedimentary basins, and the relationship between deformation and stratigraphy and basin evolution.
* Investigation of the role of tectonic processes in the formation, evolution, and concentration of hydrocarbon (oil and gas) and geothermal resources.
* Application of tectonic data to the siting, design, and construction of engineering structures and technical infrastructure.
* Tectonic controls on mineralization, mineral systems, and economic geology.
* Effects of tectonic processes on groundwater resources, erosion, and safe site selection for waste disposal.
* Study of the interplay between tectonic processes and magmatic activity at different scales.
* Application of advanced techniques such as remote sensing, geophysics, geochemistry, numerical modeling, and artificial intelligence in the analysis of tectonic processes and structures.
* Analysis of tectonic hazards, including earthquakes, landslides, subsidence, and related deformations.
The journal welcomes articles that are based on detailed field studies, laboratory data, quantitative methods, advanced modeling, remote sensing, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and that can provide generalizable and meaningful tectonic interpretations beyond local descriptions.
Types of articles accepted by the journal include original research articles, targeted review articles, and methodological papers that introduce or develop new approaches and tools in structural and tectonic studies.
Studies that are limited to a purely local description of phenomena without providing structural analysis or clear tectonic implications, as well as articles that lack sufficient data, scientific innovation, or a direct connection to the journal's scope, will not be considered for acceptance.
